For the 10th edition of the Biennale du 9e art, the Thomas Henry museum in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin hosted an exhibition dedicated to Will Eisner. The well-known artist and father of Spirit is acknowledged as a pioneer of the graphic novel medium. Approximately 80 original comics pages are introduced in this exhibition, completed by items linked to the artist's native town, New York.

The first section of the exhibition is dedicated to Eisner's workshops : multiple interviews with the author will help the visitor understand his work. The second room is centered around the character Spirit, a superhero imagined by Will Eisner in the 1940s which inspired a significant amount of comics authors. The exhibition draws a parallel between Eisner's works and Frank Miller's, showing how the first artist influenced the latter. "The Spirit of Will Eisner" also highlights his works dealing with New York City, which influences his comics greatly. Finally, the exhibition explores Will Eisner's career in the field of the graphic novel medium.
