Created with the Fundación "la Caixa", the exhibition « Cómic. Sueños e historia » (Comics, dreams and history) is focused on comics. Going from town to town in Spain, this exhibition invites the visitor to a journey through a whole century of comics history, introducing more than 300 original artworks.
Next to the masterpieces of well known comics authors like George Herriman, Milton Caniff and Jean Giraud (Moebius), you will find the most famous characters brought by the 9th art, such as The Yellow Kid, Little Nemo in Slumberland, Tintin, Asterix, Flash Gordon, The Spirit, Batman, The Amazing Spider-man and Corto Maltese - among others!
The exhibition promises to both beginners and amateurs a way to discover the 9th art's dense history, empathizing on the technics, authors, and inconic works. The exhibition begins with an introduction to comic books and its origins, then gives an insight on the american sequential art, especially superheroes. The following rooms will take the visitor to the world of Spanish comics before exploring French-Belgian comics and their most famous authors. Italian and Argentinian artists are also highlighted. Finally, the exhibition also shows fantasy works as well as underground comics.
The exhibition « Cómic. Sueños e historia » has already hosted more than 200 000 visitors. Created in collaboration with the foundation « La Caixa », Bernard Mahé from 9e Art Références plays the role of its curator. The immersive scenography is made possible thanks to Ignasi Cristià.
